Hey All,
I trust all is well with everyone. I have been enjoying the summer heat, our children, and traveling for work (not so much). My potted fig orchard was doing well...

until I returned from a trip to find that several plants were 'crispy' because they had not been watered. After a thorough watering, they all 'came back' and stood up but not green and really rough looking. All are alive so I am thrilled. Several are scheduled to go in-ground and most of the other extras will have new local homes.
I am posting to get some help and also to share a story...After I dropped off our children to music lessons this morning , I passed by a fig tree that I have been watching for several weeks. Today I noticed ripe figs and the owner was outside. I circled the block and asked if I could taste one. The owner offered as much I could pick. This seventy-nine year old fig lover's tree sprawled across half of her approximately back yard (that was about 30 yds x 30 yds). It has never been pruned intentionally but its at least 12" thick trunk was split by something. I learned that in 1953 her father planted it as a shoot. The owner said that about 3 years ago, the figs 'got sweeter and darker than they ever have been'. Three pounds of figs in a grocery bag later, my family and I have been consuming figs all afternoon. I'll take a post a photo of the tree when it isn't raining.
It would be nice if I could identify this variety. My inexperienced research says Celeste and it looks similar to what Jon calls Celestial (910).
For additional reference: Using 1 (least/small) - 5 (most/large) scale, sweetness = 3, richness = 1, seeds = 1, size = 2, eye = 1. I have posted a few photos of less ripe figs.
Thanks in advance for any help.
JD
