This is a fig of some local repute in King George, Virginia. The Mother tree was moved from an Old Farm to it's present location about 40 years ago. The freeze this year took it back to ground level for the first time in that 40 year period. I rooted about 50 of these this year. They were among the easiest to root of all I tried. They were also the fastest to sell as many in the community desired this particular fig. I reserved 8 for stock trees. As 2014 rooted cuttings, I am amazed that each is not only loaded with figs, (more than any of the other 49 varieties I started) but that the trees have made exceptional growth (3'-4' multi stem in 2 gal pots) and the figs are maturing to what appears to be full size and full flavor. They are simply outstanding with a taste similar to MBVS. (Which are growing right beside them.) I would almost say it is MBVS except it appears more prolific, a little darker, and about two weeks earlier here. First ripe on July 10. I do think it is a “Mt Etna” type. I would appreciate any ideas as to what it might be.
