I wanted to try a dark fig jam and I found this site

The good thing about it is that orders over $50 ship free which is almost like getting the jam at half price. Especially good if you find someone to split an order with you.   Here's what I ordered

If you come across TJ Maxx or Marshall's, stop in there....many times you can find fabulous fig preserves there.

Just bought another jar sheesh my wife hates figs but likes this with the double french brie cheese.
Its not bad.

Here's what I found:

Provence Black Fig Jam Epicurien 11.6 oz jar  This tastes the best but seems overpriced


Fig Jam cane sugar preserves 9 oz Andresy  This is good but not as good as the others and I'd order the Life in Provence over this.

Life in Provence Provencal Fig Jam  This tastes great and is the best value

Just wanted to add to this. These came from TJ Maxx. They are both great, they taste more like fresh figs than dried. I bought the red fig, and a jar of Tradional with walnuts(light figs), they were $4.99 ea. I have yet to try the Traditional w/walnuts, the red fig jam was so good that I went back to get another jar of red plus a jar Noir fig  of the same brand. They were sold out of all fig jam of this brand, so I picked up a different brand of Noir fig jam for $5.99. I would rate the second one slightly under the first. It's funny, it seems like the figs used in the second Noir variety are richer tasting, but they used less of them per jar volume so the overall flavor is..thinner. If that makes any sense. Anyhow, both are French manufacture with only figs, sugar, and pectin. They are the best I have tasted yet, and I will look for the first variety every time I am in a TJ Maxx; lucky for me my wife loves TJ Maxx.

 

   


Sorry for the focus issue, my camera doesn't like to take close ups. It always focuses on something farther away. My smartphone takes great close ups, but more time consuming to get pics on the forum. I'll save that for fresh figs I grew.

Aloha, everybody.  I found the Braswell's at a local commissary.  Really good on toasted brioche and brie cheese.  Made with Kadota figs and cane sugar. I haven't had the Casa Giulia yet, but the fig picture in the label is a green fig with a light red-pink center.  I think my wife found this at Ross Dress For Less.

We have tj max and marshall here in Dallas. Thought they only sold clothes. I'll definitely check it out

If you can get the Epicurien Fig and Balsamic Confit, it is the BEST fig jam I have EVER had! it takes the best on a strong Goat Cheese ( I prefer Hombolt Fog). I used to be able to get it at a local fancy cheese shop. It was $9 and if I wanted to, could eat it in one sitting. It is probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite fig foods! PLEASE try it!!!!!

We have a Ross nearby, and a TJMax about a half hour away. For those who don't know, both are fun stores if you like to hunt for things - they are more like yard sales but with all new goods, and better organized .. and lots of clothes. They tend to have an isle or two boutique type foods that are constantly changing. Hot sauces, jellies, sea salt, exotic popcorns, chocolates, flavored coffees and teas, fancy cookies, and the like. And it changes all the time. If you see something you like, buy it all, cuz it likely won't be there the next time.

I only buy fig products that list figs as the first ingredient.  They had this at my TJ Maxx

Hi,
I've been trying fig jam as well - since I can't find fresh figs.
I bought one - a cheaper big shop brand - the texture was more on the soft and watery side - just no piece of fruit inside - what have they made of the skins of the figs ?
 The fig strain was not mentioned - except that it was made of dark figs. Where did those figs grow ? Strain ? I still don't have the answer .
I bought another brand. They sell dark fig jam and light colored fig jam . In those I could find some pieces of figs ( the skin of course) and those preserves were better - 2,5€ for one standard size preserve .
Funny, you guys could find fig jam with "Provence" on the pot - and I could not . Perhaps I have to go search in smaller and "Luxury" shops.
I know a shop where they sell Italian/Portuguese products. I'll have to go and check - but I don't remember having seen fig preserves.
Provence is a Mediterranean region of France .
 By the way, is the region of production of the figs mentioned on your fig preserves ?

Has anyone in Canada seen any in stores here??

I found this brand of fig jam, very sweet, with lots of tasty little chunks of figs, at a Kroger store in Cincinatti.
Not sure where the imported figs are from, probably Croatia, given the name.  Also would not be surprised if some of these various brands were made by the same company and sold under different names.

    

Here is another one from TJmaxx. Made in Portugal, very good quality as well. They use cinnamon in it, at first I wasn't sure if I liked the addition but it has grown on me. Very good on ham sandwich, or anything else.
