Fig Juice In My Blood

I just came across this old family photo. That's my mom and two of my sisters sitting at the counter. The guy at the counter is my late uncle Vince. They are at his health food store, Licata Nutrition Center, that he opened in 1956 in what is now Old Towne Orange in California. The store is still open today and run by my cousin.

So why am I sharing this with you? If you haven't noticed, the sign above my sister's head says "Loma Linda Fig Juice"! I can't quite make it out, but I think the slogan on top says, "It's made in California, and so good for you!" - not really sure about the first line.

By the way, the figs trees that I started from my mom's tree, I am for now calling Anna's Unknown. That's my mom, Anna.

Since you asked, here is the entire company history:

Kind of interesting history. They got their start in 1903 as a 7th Day Adventist organization that prepared food for the patients at the Loma Linda Sanitarium. To jump to the end, they were bought by Sanitarium Foods of Australia in 1980 and it doesn't sound like it was ever the same company after that.

tell me more about your mom's unknown.. i would like to know what it's like.

Nice story!

Those older black and white family pictures are classics.
