Martin- it's a painted Hickory borer. Do you or your neighbor store firewood around the house? (close to the house).

Navid.

No i dont and next door neighbor does not either, i have a corner home .
I dont use fireplace much but when i do i buy some bundles and use it up on a weekend just in wintertime around holidays.
I dont recall seeing this bug before in my yard.

Thanks for the response .

Locust Borer

Apparently specific to locust tress, and not an issue for figs.

Although the antennae are longer and I might call it a Painted Hickory Boree, just because the time of the year, I would say the Locust Borer.  You'll find them feeding on Goldenrod this time of the year.  The Painted Hickory Borer is usually active in the Spring.

I do have a thornelss skyline locus tree that seems healthy at this point that i planted geez probably 15 years ago about same time i planted my princeton elm tree.
Thanks again.
