Fig leaves curling up

Hello Everyone!

this is my first post and I hope you can help me with my small problems. I'm new to growing figs and I purchased a fig tree last October and keep it in a container. All the breba fell off during the winter but now spring is here and new growth is occurring rapidly.

Everything seems fine and the leaves are very green, but they now seem to be curling up a little. Hong Kong Winters are drier and cold while it's spring and summers can get hot and extremely humid. Can anyone please help me understand why the leaves are curling? FYI there was 2 weeks of very nice, warm weather, when my plant started new growth, but now there is a cold spell, and that's when the leaves started curling a bit. I'm thinking this can be the problem? I water once every 3 days--am I overwatering for a humid locale?

Also, my local garden shop told me to use 8-3-5 fertilizer to encourage green growth until the plant starts fruiting, when I should switch to a normal fruit fertilizer. Is this OK? And last not not least, can anyone tell me what variety of fig I have? Thank you thank you for the help!

Attached are photos of my baby tree.

The new leaves look OK to me.

Could be too much water, but the leaves look fine. A soil moisture meter is a good investment. Can't tell for sure what it is, when it fruits it should be easier to i.d.

Ok, good, thanks for the replies guys! I'll post a pic of the fruits when they ripen.

Update!

One leaf is actually bending downwards and the other leaves have a slight curl, but nothing odd. Does anyone know what the problem may be? I've attached some pictures.

It's been rainy, humid and cold recently. Could this be because it's been too wet recently?

Thanks!

I've attached some pictures!

"Bent" leaf is probably FMV. Otherwise the leaves look normal.

So is there anything I should be doing right now for my tree?

no

lift up the container daily. noticed the weight change. don't water until the container is very light and the leaves are just starting to look little droopy. once you get used to finding that "watering weight", water right before leave start to droop. don't water before. watering every 3 days in humid condition could provide too much water.

as far as the pictures are concerned, they look fine.

start fertilizing once the growth start. i don't fertilize full strength until the growth are rapid. stop fertilizing when the figs start to swell, and start cutting water back a little also.
