It is interesting to see how they grow figs in the tropics.

I like his explanation on why he has so many varieties. "What if I find one that is very productive, with great taste, that grows well in our area."

I will be following him to see if he finds that perfect fig variety for the tropics. :)

There was a fig frenzy there. May have settled down a bit. According to my friends there, many fig folks are selling fig trees
at very high prices. Good luck to Fig Malaysia. What they need are close eye varieties and some good LSU type figs like O'rourke,
Improved Celeste, LSU Champagne etc

Paul, yes we are having fig frenzy here. And they sell fig tree at very reasonable price. Its not that expensive and it based on variety. Most of the tree are rm100++ equal to +-30usd. But some very rare variety can up to rm1k but that is a stable tree and already bear fruit. If you look at auction on eBay, some cutting from recognized seller can up to 100usd and that is rm400++ here. Currency play it roles here

Unfortunately there is much hype in figs and there goes the prices. Well it's a willing buyer/seller and I say good for them.
By the way does anyone have any idea what varieties are most suited for growing in Malaysia ?? I can only base my ideas on 
what have done well in Louisiana. I know LSU Hollier is good tasting but sucks with rain, so is LSU Gold. I am given the impression
that fig growing in Malaysia is very challenging like they grow like weeds in ground, many insects loves them apart from the weather.
Here in Canada -- its just the weather and it is not too bad in southern British Columbia. We have lots of fig trees growing in Vancouver.
Toronto area has hot summers and many heat loving varieties thrive & produce well. In my area, we need a green house to jump start
varieties like col de dames, Preto, Blk Maderia, Bourj. Noir and many Pon's varieties. All the best to Malaysian fig growers and hope 2016
is a better year for fig growing.
