Fig mosaic virus status Australia

Hi everyone, and especially the Aussie figgers in this board!

I have been reading a lot of threads about the fig mosaic virus, and how almost all trees are affected in the US (and elsewhere). I cant find any data on the percent of infected trees in Aus..

The best I can find is some government growing guides that say it's incurable and infected trees should be destroyed.

So in your experiences, is it a large problem here? Are a large percent affected or has the virus only been recently introduced?

Cheers!

FMV has been around since the 1920's

FMV is probably in every fig tree everywhere to some degree. There is no consensus and those that recommend destroying infected fig trees obviously don't grow and collect figs. There are ways to propagate figs that are FMV free and hopefully soon we'll start seeing these widely available, but for now it's safe to say that every fig out there is to some degree involved with at least one of the viruses that display the symptoms of FMV.
Sorry, but I don't have any Oz specific info to relate.
