It could be a symptom or maybe just a nutritional deficiency.
It could also be a sign of fig mites. Does the new growth show the chlorosis spots.
Improving the plant growing condition/feeding usually gets rid of the symptom on new leaves unless you have an underlying fig mite issue. Then you need to deal with the mites.
