Fig newb, may have killed my tree

Hi everyone! I am hoping someone can offer some advice here.. I got a lovely 4' Celeste fig as a housewarming present last September, full of leaves and vitality. I am in MD - zone 7A - in a 16th floor western exposure apartment. I did as much research as I could about overwintering this guy, and ultimately ended up leaving it out on the balcony with some bags of mulch around the pot to keep heat in, and wrapping it when temps got down to the teens. As of today, it still has no leaves, shoots or evidence of regrowth. I did a scratch test on a few places on the trunk, and there seems to be green on at least half of it (though I think that might be shrinking). Have I killed my tree? Should I prune it? Any thoughts or advice would be extremely appreciated!

The housewarming fig gift warmed the house but then it got frozen outside!

The trunk really look dried up. However do not discard yet. Wait until warm weather and give it time to see if it will sprout from the roots if roots did not freeze and died.

Yea, the reddish part is definitely dead.  Let it be and hopefully you'll see some new sprouts from the soil line, as Ottawan said.

Welcome to the forum from Southern California.  It rarely freezes here, so I'm not qualified for a personal answer, but been a member so long I feel from other's experiences that your tree may sprout back with new shoots.

Good luck to you!

Welcome......looks like the top 3/4 of your tree is a goner, but below the name tag seems to still have some green ..... You could trim the top and take the wait and see approach.....It mite come back from the ground level as the weather warms as along as there viable roots
