Fig on cutting

My maltese fig finally arrived..... My problem is should I take off a newly sprouting figs. The cutting does not have leaves but a fig. Is it safe to rip the fig off? Or will the cutting die.

take the fig off. it won't do any good to the cutting other than sucking the energy out of it. and chances are very good that fig won't make it anyway.

I thought when i saw it, that it was a leaf but then bam a fig.... It will not kill the cutting will it

I've plucked figlets from new cuttings and they survived.  The oozing 'milk' will dry up and seal it on its own.

Thanks for the info...

Maybe I'm paranoid but what I do is take a sterilized knife or razor blade and cut through the center of the small figlet to cut it in half.  The plant will then abort the damaged figlet via its own process.  The idea is that is less stressful for the cutting than manually ripping the fig off.
