I have located some very interesting websites from around world. Included are some very nice photos of figs. (also posted to G.W.)

1) This first one is a site from Croatia. The first page that shows up will display some discussion and near the bottom of the page are some interesting photos. I like the big tree growing by the house. Now, to see the rest of the amazing photos you will need to type "ficus carica" in the search box on the right side near the top. You will then be taken to a fabulous page full of pictures, etc. My favorite photo is the fig tree growing out of the rock wall!

Another Croatian site is here "Fig fruit which is worth loving" http://www.istrianet.org/istria/flora/fruit-nuts/smokva1.htm

2) The next is "China Fig" http://www.chinafig.org/index1.asp You can use the Google Translator by pasting the web site address into the box and a translated page will appear. http://translate.google.com/translate_t# There are some pictures, articles, etc. The translation is not perfect, but you might get the drift of what is going on. (This site may have been mentioned previously on the forum, but I thought it would be good to list it again) By the way, if you are interested in ficus species that are growing in China, look at this pdf file - http://flora.huh.harvard.edu/china/PDF/PDF05/Ficus.pdf

3) Here is a Czech fig site. Using the translator you can see what they are talking about. There are photos, video, etc. http://www.fikovniky.com

4) Here is a nice picture of a large spreading fig from what I can tell. http://dgcapea.caib.es/pe/pages_arbres/figueres_toni_mestre.ca.htm No translation is available of this Catalan language site.

Of course a fabulous fig site is "Figs of the Catalan Countries' and is found here http://www.galgoni.com/

5) A photo of a fig tree growing out of a bridge abutment in Spain. http://picasaweb.google.com/dave.perfitt/Spain200802#5187729322136595954

6) Flowers of Israel - http://www.flowersinisrael.com/plant_list_alpha-f.htm click on the Ficus carica and the Ficus sycomorus pictures. There are a few nice pictures within, especially the sycomore fig.

7) France - I am not sure if this site has been mentioned before. http://www.pommiers.com/figue/figuier.htm Some pictures, etc. The more well known Baud nursery is here http://www.fig-baud.com/figuiers.html Another nursery is here - http://pepinieres-figoli.monsite.orange.fr/page1.html

8) India - Fruitipedia. This has been mentioned before on the forum if I remember correctly. Here is the ficus index page. Carica is not available, but interesting ones like roxburghii and palmata are available. http://www.fruitipedia.com/Bot%20Names/BotName%20F.htm

9) Italy - http://www.masseriaficazzana.it/il_valore_del_fico.asp This one translates fairly well in the google translator.

10) Here is a Swiss-German Nursery site http://www.mercato-verde.ch/katalogindex.html Use the translator to translate the German.

11) Here is a very useful site with plant names in other languages. It is the Multilingual Multiscript Plant Name Database http://www.plantnames.unimelb.edu.au/Sorting/Ficus.html Scroll down.

12) England - Reads nursery which has been mentioned on the forums. Very nice photos http://www.readsnursery.co.uk/acatalog/Figs.html

13) Australia - Willabrand orchards - http://www.willabrand.com/glenewin.php

Well, that is more than enough and all that I can locate in my files at the moment. Please feel free to add any others that you have discovered.
