Fig picking time!

Here is another super fig that does not get the write-ups it needs! Black Celeste. Scoping out figs in my garden, this one stood out. Celeste is an old time favorite but this one has more flavor than normal Celeste. I have other figs that are ripe now, King Arthur, Don Fortis, Texas Everbearing, White Texas Everbearing, Dottoto, Brown Turkey, Improved Celeste, Marseilles Black, Italian Honey, Delcon, White Adriatic, Hardy Chicago, Galbun, Dark Portuguese, LSU Black, Strawberry, and others.

Here is Black Celeste....too many other pics to post.

Dennis .. Looks tasty. I like regular Celeste figs so the dark ones looks great.

Beautiful fig, I didn't know there was a black Celeste, very cool!!!

Wow that's quite a ripe fig list all at once and a nice Black Celeste!

Black Celeste. Never heard of it but now I want one. Thanks Dennis for the enticement. Yea it worked. If I come over to your house for a beer can you show me which tree it is and give me a few yards out front before you give chase and get lost in the fig trees. You know I can't run fast. I'm just asking?

Hi Snaglpus,
Congratulation, nice fig !
Does the tree compensate by producing a lot of those ?

You know what people tell to kids when they learn to walk : "One feet after the other, we're not in a hurry (for now)"
You know what people would tell on this forum : "One photo after the other, we're not in a hurry" - One photo per day to keep the audience glued to the forum :) .

JDS, Black Celeste is not that hardy.  It does have more flavor than Celeste.  Its tangier...if that's a word.  It does taste like Celeste with a strong berry flavor.  These figs came from my container tree.  I winterized it indoor last year and I am glad I did.  My orchard tree is not doing well at all.  I may dig it up this Fall.  My container tree gave me 35 figs and its still putting out figs.  So, its very prolific, just not cold hardy.

Hey Hersell, the wife won't let me put any more trees in the ground.  That's why I have 254 on the North side of the house in 15g pots.  But I did add 13 more this year that she doesnt know about.

Another one...DJ you are killing me, figly.

JD, wanna see more? How about these....Spicewood, LSU Thibidaux and Ischia Black

Crazy weather....heat wave got plenty of figs ripening after a cold front weeks ago. The birds are having fun, I'm having fun. Now we got major down pours of rain! As I was checking on my trees, I found a few ripe one, Spicewood, LSU Thibidaux and Ischia Black. All were very good. IB tasting the best! Enjoy
