Here is a presentation from the 2013 New England Vegetable and Fruit Growers conference that I think is interesting.
"Greenhouse Figs : How to make them survive the Winter Chill "
http://www.newenglandvfc.org/presentations.html
Scroll down to the Specialty Fruit section to find it.

Also here is written material that goes with it.
http://www.newenglandvfc.org/2013_conference/proceedings2013/Paul%20Greenhouse%20Figs.pdf

Thought some here might be interested.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I am in the process of putting up trellises for my fruit trees. I have already learned much that will help me design mine by watching the PowerPoint on Building the Perfect Orchard- Experiences with Orchard Establishment in Nova Scotia. This link should be shared in the Gardenweb Fruit and Orchards forum as well. Some really good stuff here.

Thanks for sharing that, very interesting!

I did find it amusing one of the slides said that Rhode Island winters are "mild and predictable!"  I guess its a matter of degrees..
