Fig prices

Just got back from my local Fairway Market and they had these Black figs for sale  they looked a little beat up $1.50 each

Looking at the price, I guess they aren't grown locally...????   What variety do you think they are..???

Just bought a pint of Mission figs from California here in Fair Lawn NJ for $5

OT - the sign says that figs are the only fruit to semi-dry on the tree.  Jujube do quite well drying on the tree in arid climates.

They are Black Mission breba, I bought a full carton for $9.99, not very sweet though.

The black onion like fig on the left called my attention!
This picture seems to have traveled around the globe as per conveniences..

Is the real fig displayed somewhere in the shop?  It is expensive ! Probably air freighted imports from Europe, Turkey, Israel ??

It looks the Smyrna's  Bursa variety.

Francisco these come from California, the only imported fresh figs in USA are from Chile and they are horrible, gassed and tasteless.

Francisco That is the real fig display I took the picture yesterday

Rafael,

Good, so they are not from this side.. the figs on the carton look like Black Mission brebas.. bue the ones described as Black figa .. TWO for 3 bucks !.. what are these ?? variety,   any clue ?

Dave, thanks

I see your point. My question can be synthesize:
The figs on the right are Black Mission brebas
What about the other figs on the left appearing on that print.. asking 3 dollars for two figs ??
Did you see the real figs or just the print ??
