Fig Propagation and the Hardening off process.

Hi Friends! I have a few Questions about propagation and hardening off using this set up I have posted pictures of. The Cuttings are 2 weeks old now and have some green growth starting to show as well as some good root growth. I live in Phoenix Arizona with very dry heat, even though it is monsoon season it doesn't last long :P. All the cuttings are from local trees.

1. The hardening off process. is there any links to a good video of the hardening of process or any recommendations that have been trailed and work well? I am new to the hardening off process especially going from high humidity of the grow box to the dry heat of Arizona.

2. Been keeping the humidity between 70 to 90 throughout the day spraying the plants and top of the grow box 5 to 7 times daily bringing the humidity up to 90 then it gradually drops back to 70 over the course of an hour or so. is this ok? it seems to be working but could I be doing something more helpful and efficient? Temp stays around 90.

3.I have a nice T-5 grow light would this be ok to add in addition to the indirect sunlight coming in from the window? could I keep the T-5 on for 24 hours or should I cycle with the sun?

4.Any Tips Tricks fancies you've learned I would Love to hear about and learn as well. Thank you Friends!

Whatever you're doing looks great! Once the bud opens half inch or so to form the first leaf and you see roots ( you already have plenty) you can fertilize and take out of humidity bin this is what I do anyway, you may want to wait for other opinions especially someone near your area. Next time you feel like experimenting try wrapping the exposed part of the cutting to just below the soil with parafilm ( grafting tape) , you will not need to use the humidity bin.
Good luck and welcome to the forum

Yes use the light about 12 hours a day. Once ready to harden of, and I would wait till at least you have a full set of leaves. Remove top for an hour for a week, 2 hours the next. 3 hours the next week. That should harden them off to humidity. My method, your mileage may vary. Adjust to your needs. Do the same for hardening off being outside. But start with a week of shade outside, then 1 hour of sun etc.

awesome set up,thinking of getting organised myself!,search for the topic 'twigs to figs in 120 days" for some tips and similar methods, that guy seemed to have it nailed

Thank you for the great tips!
Happy to be apart of the fun

Hi,
Did Arizona move to the southern hemisphere ? LOL .
This setup is for winter propagation.
This time of the year, I do it outside (provided you have space of course - if you are in the center of town ... just forget about my remark ... ).

This time of year, I would have put the whole box in a shaded / half shaded area - under a tree for instance.
They would have done well anyway.

You wrote that those are from local trees. If you still have access to the trees, you may want to try this :
Take 3 cuttings, remove all but the last 2 top leaves and put them in a jar of water - at least half of the length of 2/3 of the length should be in the water.
Change the water every day for 3 weeks. In my experience, you won't get roots, but starts of whatever they are.
Then put in a pot with loam ( buried ... like for the water). Don't put them straight but will a slight angle.
The whole process is done in an half shaded area - not full shade, not full sun . Keep them watered and moist not drown.
This is what I do at this time of the year.
