Fig Rust

hello everyone, I received five fig trees from wellspring gardens about two weeks ago.  they are all very small but besides the usual rust that comes on the leaves for delivery, they look healthy.  However, my question is that for the past two weeks, its been raining constantly here in maryland and i'm not sure whether thats ok for the plants, or if I should bring them inside for the time being until the rain stops.

They are in a 50/50 potting soil/perlite mix.
It seems the rust is increasing, I have two brown turkey trees which are also in ground, one from a nursery and one from a friend.  This is their second month in ground and both are starting to for rust spots on the bottom side of their leaves.  One of the trees starting forming a fig but I think the wind blew it off.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I've been spraying mine with Neem this year. More rain, yet less Rust.

Been a rather wet and chilly season.

Some of mine show signs of fig rust.
I'm just going to tough it out and wait till fall when the leaves fall off and I will prune and spray with neem.
If you spray one you spray all. Just too many to do now.

I do however cut the bad leaves off from time to time.

i tend to ignore the rust. other than the bad look.. i haven't seen much permeanant damage due to it. it seems the rust is there every fall when the temp starts to get low and leaves are about to drop.

Hello Habib,
I would agree with John and start a simple spraying schedule. If you stay ahead of it now, you may keep it from spreading further and the plants will be healthier and more productive in the future.
I had the same issues with plants from Wellsprings last year. I bare rooted, potted, removed the infected leaves but kept the plants inside for a few weeks to get established before moving them outside. They were over 3 feet at the end of the season last year.

Good Luck.

That sounds great guys, ill start a spraying schedule and remove the infected leaves right away. So does once a week sound good? And which brand do u guys prefer? sorry I am very new to do this. Haha

I have used various brands. I just look in the organic section (which I am pretty sure it all is). I spray maybe once every two weeks so far. With the rain washing it all off though, I may have to do it more frequently. Follow directions on the bottle. I also add a few drops of dish soap and a mix of essentials oils (Peppermint, Rosemary, Bay and Clove), which I saw was in a bottle of insecticidal soap. No sense in buying when I can make it for less.
