Welcome to the forum Michael. If you can have another fig tree, go with Desert King in BC Vancouver area. Its great on taste too. Other variants that are sold by most nurseries would most likely not give you lots of ripe figs like DK. Weather is the issue. Plant in the most sunny spot. Pinched growing tip after every 5th or 6th leaf to force branching. In about 3 to 4 years you will have a low well branched tree bearing a healthy supply of figs. I visited a friend in Vancouver, BC yesterday & he has a 7 yrs old DK. It probably has about 400 large DK figs due mainly to pinching and likely under 8ft tall.
