Fig Travel. Way off the beaten path.

I was in South Africa 2 years ago and was curious if there were any South African fig varieties. Today
I came across a fig farm and lodge that has over 1000 trees with some 100 years old. When it's too cold to do much with figs, we can go to where they are just starting to ripen. I think it's worth the trip!

(Just a mere 4.5 hrs East of Capetown!)

Here and I thought I was the only one on the forum whom did not have a 100 year old fig tree.  Looks a great place for a vacation, thank you for sharing.

This is great! In case anyone misses it the gallery has one pic of the Adams fig they grow they describe as a large purple fig. Also, I'm no geologist but the colors and look of their mountains look like southern Iran. Nice and dry. Probably a great climate for growing figs. Wonder what the climate is like.
