Fig Tree - Egyptian Pharaoh

Well I killed it. My soil didnt have enough drainage so it rotted. It seems that since I made this thread there has been a lot of people bidding on these trees from ebay. I won't be getting another since price are going higher than what I paid for the first one and until it is proven not to be a celeste. However it was a nice airlayered tree, the latest one on fleabay has the best roots yet.

I just received my plant I'm hopping that its not a Celeste that would be pretty bad . I did put it next to my Celeste ill let you know the outcome ? I guess I'm learning I'm hoping it is the Egyptian Pharaoh only time will tell!

is that a fruit cake with only fig in 'em?

@americanfigboy, I'm sorry to hear about that.  If you'll contact me through ebay, I'll work with you to send you a replacement fig tree.

Oh, btw, @rcantor, there are plenty of recipes online. I would recommend looking on cooks.com.

This preserves recipe is really easy (really good, too):

Here are some of my personal favorite fig recipes:

Fig Bread (Mind you that the recipe says dried figs, but I use fresh instead.)

It's ok, that was my fault. I don't think the soil drained fast enough. I just now drill extra holes in my pot to prevent that from happening again. I'll buy another next year when I get a backyard. Growing on a patio with overhead roof sucks, not enough sun to force trees to drink.

Try a faster draining mix, I don't think extra holes will help too much. For young plants I use 3 parts pine bark fines, 2 parts perlite, and 1 part pro mix or spagnum peat based mix plus dolomitic lime in a cloth pot like root pouch. It is extremely hard to drown a plant in a mix and pot like that.

So far so good I put my Egyptian Pharaoh next to my Celeste fig tree and leafs are different waiting on figs , just letting everyone know that so far it looks like the real deal . And it's doing Great on Long Island , it will remain in a pot .
