I have recently trimmed the tree and have a bunch of really nice cuttings available. I would like to spread this wonderful tree to as many friends as I can, so this year I am making the cuttings available for $5.00 each with $8.00 for priority shipping per order.
WILL SHIP ONLY to allowable states in the USA !! NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING !!
If anyone who purchased cuttings from me last year did not grow a healthy tree out of it, let me know and the new cuttings are on me.
Here is a link to the photobucket pictures of the tree .

My hero and newest BFF is Bill Lauris aka Big Bad Bill. He is the first person who grew a tree last year that ripened and ate a fig. The pictures of the fig on the plate are Bill's and he gave me his permission to post them . Thank you again Bill. I love the way it looks when sliced in half, and appreciate our friendship.

My friend who has the mother tree also ate quite a few this year for the first time ever and was excited by its sweetness. (also noted by Bill)
The variety is still up for discussion and I will only claim what I know, and that is that it is a tree that was brought in from Sicily especially for The Godfather movie some 45 years ago (yikes)
I think we will know more this year about the variety as many of us will have second year trees and they should ripen figs for many of us. The tree is a fantastic rooter, I grew out well over 50 of them last year.
Let's have some fun with this one.

Happy New Year Coop!  My GF fig tree is in a 6 gallon bucket not, soon it will be my showpiece, thank you!

I have a 4' tree in dormancy and am up-potting cuttings from it tomorrow.

:)!  Thanks Again, Mike

Coop my tree grew nicely last year. It is an easy rooter. I'm really hoping that it produces this year so that I can get a taste first hand. Eventually I'll clone a tree from it to trial its in ground winter hardiness.
A big Thank You for letting me partake in growing this tree.

Great grower, thanks again.

By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

Very cool. My "roots" are in Sicily -not too far from Corleone in fact. Its a wonderful place. This is a fig variety i've not seen. I go there a lot but I've never seen a fig leaf shaped like that in the south of italy. Can you provide some history? Did the owners know Copola?

Hope it roots well for all who bought.

Thanks Guys
Tony, Peter and Mike, its so nice to hear from those who have had good luck from last years cuttings.
Harvey, Thanks for the nice wishes . Always a treat to hear from you.
Joe, Read the link to last years post. It will tell you the whole story

Good work!

I kept telling myself, not more cuttings, no more cuttings... BUT, how can I resist this? lol

I am planning to place an order. I am in Canada but have an US address for shipping.

For Canadian who also want to try this great figs, I can order extra cutting and ship to you. PM me for details. I will place the order tomorrow night so please let me know  before that.

This is a tree with a great story.

 Thanks All,
I really appreciate all the nice pm's coming in from those who are growing him.
Enjoy!

Somebody got a fig before me? I was hoping I'd be the first! Looks like a good fig! Hopefully this summer.

Fred
Even though Bill had the first fig, nobody had a more wonderful story of a cutting than you and I will always cherish it
Cheers

To all those who ordered cuttings they are on their way. To those who didn't I still have some beauties if interested
. Good luck to all and enjoy the fun!

Beautiful variety and I'm proud to have it in my collection.  Thanks Coop!

Just received my cuttings! Wow!!! Thank you Coop

I sent a paypal in for 3 cuttings - Thanks

I received my beautiful cuttings yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised. Very generous. I am excited to have a part in this and hope I can do justice to the cuttings and the story!
Ann

Also received my cuttings yesterday. Cuttings were in great shape and Coop generously added
a bonus. Thank you!

Received my Cuttings today! Beautiful Cuttings! James has always been a very generous person! Thanks!

Frank

Great to see a picture!

So it is different from the Sicilian Red/Red Sicilian?

Pretty sure Sicilian Red had a red interior, but until I can check my pictures it is just memory.

Looking forward to trying it this Summer, breba maybe? Mid-June even?

Looks great!

Got them bad boys rooting! Thanks Coop, you tha man.

Thanks guys. Good luck with the cuttings, I'm sure you will be happy with the results.
Mike, I don't think Sicilian Red was ever mentioned as a possibility. Since my first offering last year I've always avoided linking The Godfather to any known variety. There was a post by a well known and well respected fig legend that he thought it was Sal's Corleone (which would make some sense)
From what I've seen of the leaves and the split open fig I feel this opinion is a very valid one.
I am still a season away from determining what I can somewhat safely call it
For now, it's just "The Godfather "

Thanks for the cuttings, Coop.  I got even more than I expected.  It's very generous to send cuttings to all these people for just postage!

Received my cuttings today. Very nice packaging inside and out. I also got an extra suprise inside with extra cuttings. Now if I can get them to root. That will be nice , I will have figs with real names. Right now I have side yard white, side yard purple and backyard white (different type than side yard white) sweeter.
Thank You Coop
