Fig tree in Tucson, AZ

This one is not mine but I got to pick figs with permission from it's owner.
The owner said that it was about 8 years old and thought it was a B Turkey but I believe it's a Mission. He also allowed  me to take some cuttings.

Seeing a cut open fig and a few leaves would help us.  You can bump this thread in August when you have them.   :)

I think they are too light in color for the Black Missions.

the tree has a great formation.. those figs look very yummy. Black Mission suppose to be huge trees...so this may not be one.

Manel,
Lucky You! :)
I had a similar opportunity to grab some fresh figs & cuttings here in Southern CA a few months ago. This was a Brown Turkey maybe 8-10 years old.
* Note: The owner had propped up some lower limbs with extra branches & sticks *

Store bought 'fresh' brown turkey fig VS fresh brown turkey fig from this tree:

Have fun with your new cuttings!

I remember climbing the fig trees (figueiras) in my youth and they were big.  Tucson is in the desert   so most trees don't tend to grow as big.

Thanks for your comment, Grasa.

Thanks Joe, looks like we may be getting another storm towards the latter part of the week especially in Tucson.
