Fig tree prapagation

I am trying to propagate a fig tree from cuttings given to me by a friend. I have divided the cutting into 3 pieces and am using the damp paper towel/ plastic bag technique for propagating the fig cuttings. After 2 weeks I am already seeing roots starting from the sides of the cuttings. Will the roots continue to grow in the bag indoors from the winter through the Spring or does the cutting go dormant; I live in New York City and it is now September. Should I put the cutings in the refrigerator till Spring? How should I proceed?
Thank You.

dont put them in the fridge wait till the roots are visible coming out of the bottom of the paper towel then you can transplant it into a small pot be carefull because the roots are very delicate.  You will need a soil mix that has more perlite in it than soil so the roots get good drainage to prevent rot. buy a small grow lamp from lowes or home depot and put it above the newly potted cuttings a 2 liter soda bottle with the botoom cut out of it and place it over the pot with the cap on it this will help act as a little greenhouse that will keep the moisture in. hope this helps

what kind of fig cuttings are you trying to grow?

I really dont know what kind of figs they are. A friend gave them to me from his back yard; He really dosent know the veriety either. I am guessing that they are brown turkey figs because nurserys sell that tree in my area. When ripe they are a very dark purple color. The inside of the fruit is white with a pinkish red center.

The funny thing is that the roots are emerging from all over the sides of the cuttings; is that normal?

It's what I hope for!
