Nice video and nice collecton. I do believe Bensonhurst Purple is Chicago Hardy. If my memory serves me correctly Gene Hosey has that info on his old website East Coast Figs

Barry...thanks for the info on the Bensonhurst Purple...when QVC advertised the fig trees on their show, they touted the fact that they were very cold hardy.....so that seems to fit the bill for the Chicago Hardy variety....'feel better my friend'.

Dear Vince

I have a green ischia myself, got it from a grower in Florida, this is its third year, and so far, no figs! I wrap the tree in winter, fiberglass insulation plus tarp,  Last year I pinch pruned it, but that didn't seem to do much, this year she is sprouting nicely, but no sign of any figs yet, I am wondering if you have any thoughts on how to get the tree to produce fruit.  The tree is about 4 ft high with a main branch and maybe 3-4 shoots at the base.  Thanks again, and nice video!

Rafael (you helped me with Bill's fig pots)

Rafael...My Ischia Green didn't start producing figs until the 3rd. year, and then only a few...but each year after that it really started to come on strong ( 4th. yr. about 125,   5th. yr. about 200,  etc. )...these fig trees are like teenagers, they go through sudden growth spurts on their way to maturity, at which time they are ready to produce...also take into consideration the climate and soil conditions where your tree is growing...maybe a simple soil test(inexpensive kits are available on line)may show some deficiency that can be easily corrected by useing various soil ammendments, such as good quality mulch, fertilizers, or granular lime(slow release)...I'm sure your tree will eventually produce some great tasting figs...and it will be worth the wait....Good Luck.

Great video Vince, very nice collection. I also just switched over to pots after having some plants almost die on me.

I was recently up at Bills figs , about a month ago and purchased a Alma and Battaglia that are doing very good.
