Going to apply some mulch tomorrow.    Still have six on the way.

Looks Good, Watch out for the Heat, Due to the size, they may not recover from a extremely hot day.

Well look at you!  Definitely got bit by the fig bug didn't you!  Nice plants.
4th July last year I bought two trees at a local nursery.  Now I have 8 plants.  Nice sickness.

Have fun!

Looking good!  You have a great start.  Start working on your WANT list. [image]

Thanks ya'll :)

So are the brown spots on the leaves some sort of rust?  Does that hole need to be waxed over or leave it alone?

I sometimes use Elmers Glue to fill in a hole, but that's me...LOL     I would fill it it with something, water can get in and sit there.

Great choices, Charlie! You'll love your LSU Purple.
Guard these baby trees from too much sun. Ease them out slowly. Joe in Athens

Congrats Charlie, off to good collection :)

That hole... you sure it's not a hole of a Borer bug? Be careful! have an expert examine it please....

Those holes are pretty common on cuttings, don't scare the new guy Aaron!

Nice trees.....yes, fill the holes with wax.  The soft wax from Toilet Bowl Wax Rings sold in hardware stores makes a great sealant for these kind of holes and works equally well to seal pruning cuts, the ends of cuttings, etc.  Just make sure the inside of the hole is dry before you seal it shut.

Happy growing.

@Phil, I'm not an expert on Borer bud holes, since I never seen one in my garden...but it's nothing to ignore. Hope I am wrong.

Hi Charlie,
Nice promising collection . Did you buy fertilizer ? Time for it ! Rush !
That will help those small things at sky rocketing and developing .

On the hole, just rub clay-dirt to seal the hole and that will do it .
It helps you to know if there is activity in the hole and avoids that water gets in.
If a bee comes to use that hole, just keep sealing the hole, and the bee will go find another hole to use as a nest.

Not sure of anything at this point, only that their names are Purple, Tiger and Turkey Brown. I introduced myself and put them in their holes.  :)

For the first time in months I didn't visit little Fuyu who is living across the yard.  I think she was hollering "hey what about meeeee? haha

I have a larger plant that has that kind of hole.
Forum members have told me to bury the plant so the hole is below the soil Some have said it will heal over eventually as the plant grows. So far this summer it looks like the hole will seal over before fall.

At first I only needed one, then a couple more, then ...

I hope my wife will be understanding when some morning she finds me curled-up asleep with a young, beautiful fig tree - those of  you with dirty minds, remember I said fig tree ;-0

Hey Gene I see you're an Arkie.  I'm just a bit South of Fort Smith.

Looks like Charlie has got the fever!!! LOL

First day seems to not have caused any problems.  We're having somewhat of a mild weather snap so that's good for newly planted trees in the summer I guess!  Yeah Hershell I thought about my trees all day and all the new ones coming and the cuttings!  Got to drag my rooting box out lol.

Welcome to the forum!
