fig trees at Islamic Masjid

2580131.jpg I found these fig trees at a local Islamic Masjid. One is at the play ground and there is 2 out front.I got cuttings from all 3 and have contacted the Masjid to find out details.

Cool hopefully you found a nice heirloom variety.... Keep us posted.

The 2 out front. They appear to be less cold hardy than the 1 on the play ground side. streetview.jpg

I am amazed that they are fully foliaged in December for SC weather.

I was told figs is one of the most important fruit mentioned in the Koran.

The fig tree is the third tree to be mentioned by name in the Hebrew Bible. The first is the Tree of life and the second is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve used the leaves of the fig tree to sew garments for themselves after the Fall, when they realized that they were naked (Genesis 3:7).

Yes, thats right, Grant, they are mentioned in the bible! I read a post here with the number of times figs are mentioned! Nice find on the trees. I would be interested in knowing more about these fig trees.

There's a chapter (surah) in the Quran named after fig...At-tiin.
