From the top, moving down: Blue Celeste, Sal's, and Conadria. (The picture quality wasn't what I had hoped for.)
The Blue Celeste tonight may be the single best fig I've ever eaten. It was rich and delicious with an extraordinary sweetness (but without being overly sweet.) The skin itself was extremely tender and surprisingly tasty. No berry flavor, no vegetal flavor, no astringency. Just sweet and figgy without the over-figgy flavor of cooked fig preserves or newtons.
The Sal's was as good as the previous ones I've eaten. It's not as sweet nor as tender as the Blue Celeste but a more powerful and richer fig with bonus berry notes. It's an exceptional fig and one of the prettiest to see in person.
The Conadria was the loser of the bunch. Don't get me wrong: it was good. If I had a bowl full right now, I'd eat every one. It was sweet and tasty but very mild in its honey like flavors. The skin wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I think it makes a good change-of-pace fig. And one the birds have not found.
The hands down winner tonight was the Blue Celeste, in its second full year. Hopefully it will age well, too.
