Nelson,

says the source is not available.

Just edited the link should be working now I just downloaded the pdf this morning so it should work.

Heres a sample from the pdf of what the pages look like. Enjoy

Very nicely put together! A lot of detailed research. Thanks a lot, Nelson

Hey Ruben, glad the link is working now. I agree very informational and I like the fact that they put about 10 different leaves of that typical variety with the 2 dominant being drawn up. I think this is important because leaves can vary depending on many factors.

Great info Nelson . I wish I could read Spanish , but the photos were enough to make me want to get on the next flight to Mallorca .

It is not Spanish, it is Catalan.

Axier - Generally when is the best month or week of the month to be specified to visit Spain for delicious figs.

This particular fig has an interesting history. I obtained cuttings from a well known resident of Mallorca several years back. As a boy, he would collect these Roja figs with his grandmother to supply venders in the Palma market.
Condit describes this variety accurately in his Monograph. I was surprised by the fine flavor of this fig. This is the very first fig my small tree produced. This is the breba fig which I picked around June 27, 2011. They're described as a large fig. The small eye, the meaty texture, and the level of sweetness and flavor of this fig looks very promising. Looking forward to next season for more of these.

Estelrich described it as a variety which produces brebas in abundance near Alcaida, Mallorca. The literature states that the main crop figs are highly regarded for their quality and resistance to rain damage. Second crop figs are said to mature in August/September.

The best weeks for good figs are late August and all September (maybe the first half is better).
The best zones are the Mediterranean region and the South.
Usually, there are not good figs in the North, where I live :-(

Leon, I have not tasted Roja figs yet. Monserrat Pons says that it is one of the best tasting figs, and he has several hundreds of varieties.

Hey Axier

I was in Barcelona last year with my family on vacation and know there is a big difference between Spanish and Catalan . But when written it's all Greek to me .
