Fig varieties originating in Sicily, id ?

Hello everyone.
I searched the forum but could not find some information.
I was given a branch of fig, the fig tree is very interesting for my small collection of local plants in Sicily.
Unfortunately they are not equipped with a heated greenhouse, and I should keep the cuts in the fridge until next spring, about 5 months.
Can you give me some information on how to make the cuts and store them properly ?

Does anyone recognize this Fig varieties originating in Sicily ?.
Thank you !

if you wrap the cuttings in shrink wrap I found they store better than in a bag, just make it an airtight wrap. plastic food wrap will work also. there are many figs in Sicily so it hard to say exactly what type  it is, good luck.

I have find a recent post :-) Sorry !

Benvenuto al forum, Totillos. Sei fortunato vivere vicino la Calabria. LOL.

Tell us a little more about yourself and the different figs you are growing.

FDM tu sei originario della Calabria oppure vivi in Calabria ? :-O

Evvia coi Calabresi!

Totillos,
se voi cambiare il titolo fai;

edit --> prendi "more reply options" --> scrivi sul titolo;  " Do you know this fig tree native of Sicily " --> sa(l)ve
presto!

(scusi il mio Italiano Canadese)

Hi Totillos,
How many cuttings do you have ?
I would put 3 directly in ground in a shady area, 3 in a pot of compost of at least 4Liter/1gallon, and the rest in the fridge if that is your main idea.
Never put all the eggs in the same bucket :) .

You are right jdsfrance !!, never put all your eggs in one basket, especially if the eggs are many! ;-), I have about 10 good old one-year cutting  and some herbaceous cut.. , I also thought of making some apical grafting if ever work in this late fall.. Thanks for the suggestion !

Come mai?

Ci sentiamo a presto,
