Fig variety identification

Hello from Long Island!

I would appreciate some help trying to identify a fig tree, I have thought it was a Brown Turkey but may be wrong.

I have loaded a few photos of the leaf and figs.

Thanks 12045485_10206558056863890_5545736080700356874_o.jpg  12052579_10206558047223649_2273240095685115314_o.jpg  12036528_10206558054223824_2146391487040018465_n.jpg

Hi Peter, and welcome.  It is very difficult to ID a fig, but if I had to take a wild guess, I would categorize it as a Mt. Etna type fig.  How is the flavor?  Berry type or more of a general figgy taste?  I know it's hard to describe, but some varieties have more of a fruity flavor.

Not a berry flavor, a very sweet fig flavor. Sorry about the image lighting, thats all I have.

Hey peter - welcome to the forum. I am also from long island (oceanside), where about are you?

As Frank mentioned, it looks like a Mt Etna type fig and there are tons of those, most of which stay unknown. You didn't happen to weigh it by any chance did you? When did it ripen and was it grown in ground or container?

Hi Matt,

I have family in Oceanside, I am in Seaford, Nassau County.

This photo was from September, I did not weight the fig.
This tree was originally from the Inwood, it was my father in laws, when they sold the house (he passed away) I dug the whole root ball out of a 30 year old in ground tree ;), me and a very strong person moved it to Seaford, this was about 300lbs lol

I have two varieties here now and just started growing three other types. This is my new hobby. Fig trees everywhere around here ;)

No three lobe leaves, all the leaves have that same print.

Nice fig. Dont know what it is. Was this fig totally ripe. It dies look to be in the MT. ETNA LEAF.

very cool. welcome to the fig addiction. I started earlier this year and hoping to have a nice collection by next summer. I'm hoping to get some cuttings from the tree in brooklyn i posted about in a month, so if your visiting family - let me know and ill get you some more unknowns to add to your collection :)

I will do the same, I have been giving my cuttings out to friends, I enjoy doing this, here is one I gave to a High School friend of mine 12002949_10207051174190658_8242452081982114111_n.jpg
