Figgy pudding - have you tried it?

My sister shared a 55 minute video on European Christmas traditions from travel writer Rick Steves - see https://www.ricksteves.com/watch-read-listen/video/tv-show/pledge-spe/european-christmas-pledge-special and at around the 8-9 minute mark he covers the tradition of figgy pudding in England.  That distracted me from watching the rest of the video for now as I got to thinking I've never eaten figgy pudding or heard of anyone who has.  Have you tried it?  If so, what are your thoughts?

I saw a highly-rated recipe at http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/warm-sticky-figgy-pudding-recipe.html but need some convincing before I give it a try. :)

Thanks!

The reviews alone make me want to try it.

Does not sound good to me but I don't like dates or dried figs very much

I could never find out much under "figgy pudding" so I tried "english fig pudding" there were a number of hits.  This one is interesting http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=17356371.  I guess I can finally tell my DD what figgy pudding is.  She asks for it every year at Christmas time.

No I have never tried it but since I became a figaholic only this past June that nay explain why I haven't just yet! Come to think of it, Ive been catching myself singing "Now bring us some figgy pudding, now bring us some figgy pudding..." an aweful lot since the holiday season began! Going to have to check your video out!

"We won't go until we've had some, we wont go until we've had some, Now bring some right here!" ;)

Great question, we were watching a Christmas movie the other day and I started wondering as well, of course by that I mean my girlfriend and her daughter were watching the movie and I was on the laptop looking up fig information and wondering about figgy pudding.  In the movie neither of them liked it :)

I made something one time that was a pudding of some sort.  Traditional English recipe.  I don't remember either loving or hating it, but I haven't made it since.

I don't see how you could go wrong with fig pudding.  I would skip the dates  English cooking isn't always my fav. menu, I would change it to my taste.
