Woohoo!
Awesome greenhouse!!!

One of the nicer greenhouses i have seen.

Thanks.... now it just needs heat!  It has a ventilation system with a thermostat so I can control the heat in the summer but it does not help for winter.
I wonder if one of those butane shop heaters would work.

Awesome green house, and a nice raised bed garden area... as far as the butane shop heater, it will definately generate heat, but watch out for carbon monoxide fumes, "especially" if the greenhouse is attached to the main house...Good luck with all your gardening and fig growing.

nope, it is about 60 feet from the house.... Would kind of be nice if it were, because the heat from the house could heat the greenhouse!
I want a bigger raised garden area but for now it will do, there is an area below the greenhouse where I will be planting trees and red clover for
the bees and rabbits.  My husband is growing hops this year as well.

Your place looks so peaceful.

Is your husband going to brew some beer?

It is very peaceful Sam, I grew up here....  I love it!  We had cattle when I was a kid but my dad
died about 5yrs ago so now it is just us and my grandmother on the ranch... we contract out the
hay and only raise enough beef for those that want it.  I raise rabbits, and garden and have my own
horses but other than that.... it is very quiet.

Yes Ma'am he is going to give it a whirl.  Bend is pretty much the brew capital of the US. :-/
There are hops everywhere but.... since we have the space we thought, why not!

It's a fun little hobby that many husbands seem to pick up.

I thought about getting my husband a brew kit for and asked if he'd be interested. Can you believe he said no? A wife offering her husband a beer brewing set up... and he said no.

May want to have his head checked......  and you know Chris said the same thing at first.  I told him if your going to grow it at least do something with it besides
look at it.  So.... he and his brother are going to try it.

I grew a few hop vines years ago. The only thing I brewed with them was tea. The seeds at the bottom of my cup were a nice little treat.
I really enjoyed hop tea.

I love the set up Amber. I ordered and grew hops last year. Most of the energy goes to the root systems and probably wont produce many cones the first year.

For anyone else who is considering growing their own hops, http://www.nikobrew.com has rhizomes now for $3.25 each. It's a very good price, especially compared to other places on the net. This time of year is when you have to order them. I think there is only a week left.

Your setup looks ideal.  Good luck!

Sammy:  I didn't know you could make tea from hops.... learn something new everyday!  COOL!!!

Pittsburgh: I forwarded that link to my husband so he can check it out.  Thank you...

We are trying to be somewhat self sustaining out there.  It is a very slow process due to the both
of us working full time.  So far we have a garden, chickens, and meat rabbits.  We will probably never
do dairy goats or cows, we like our freedom too much BUT we do have beef and pig for meat as well.
I just need to get that damn greenhouse winterized!!

Amber!!  Get real!  That can't be a greenhouse!  OMG!  It's your house, right?  Nice peaceful view..........

Wow!!

Suzi

Making beer is a fun hobby as much fun making the brewing gagets as brewing the beer .

Suzi, my parents built the house so I have to say the house is even more wonderful.  lol  The green house is nice though.
Great for Fig Farming!!

Hmm.... speaking of Fruit of the Wine ^^  can you make fig wine?
