Gotta love that Fmv when a plant will continue to grow and produce despite it in many cases if not discarded.
Otherwise there would not be many fig trees around .
Some folks plants have it but just do not realize it as some plants barely show it while others show it well .

As a note many times a plant will do better as it matures and it will show less yet still there.
It does not just go away that i have seen yet hides pretty well at times later in season in some cases.  ; )

Not sure what the punishment is, but my VdB have it, and they did not come from UCD, but they grow just fine!  My Panachee from USD does NOT have it, and it is a slow study.  Maybe it actually helps!
Suzi

Suzi, yeah mine has it as well not from UcDavis. Show fmv real well during spring only for it to wane and produce wonderful figs later in season.

I have a UC Davis# fig from cutting that shows FMV, but grows supergreat, despite it. It is showing less and less, but it doesn't seen to affect it much.

suzi,

my VdB is from east coast figs which gene got it from paradise nursery. they are both no longer there. the tree is going on its 3rd yr. last spring and this spring, i seen misshaped leaves on this tree. however, by late spring the new leaves will have normal shape and growth.

i think paradise nursery called their VdB "Elegant Violette Black" or something like that.
