I'm excited for what may be my first year of getting a small crop of figs. I have one three year old tree (Sumacki) and two VdB trees that are growing beautifully...still no signs of figs though. I don't know if zone (6b), variety, rain (plenty of rain), heat (a bit cool so far, mostly 70s), fertilizing, or time of year (seems certain varieties are predictable as to which week they start to ripen), is most influential when it comes to figlet development? Anyone else in zone 6b or 7a seeing baby figs yet? They will probably appear when I stop looking for them constantly!

About half of my potted trees have figlets, while the other half haven't pushed any out (yet?).  These were stored in an unheated garage over the winter and came out of dormancy around March.  My ground trees are growing from the roots since they died back over the winter, and they usually won't push out figlets until sometime in June.

Here on most years in ground, figlets for the main crop appear in beginning of July.
Last year they appeared around mid-June on my stronger trees. So you're just too soon .
Brebas pop at the same time as the leaves, so if you don't have them by now, you're done for brebas for this year.
Did the vdb have die-back ? Hence no brebas ? vdb should be bifera or I'm mistaken ?

So for now continue to baby the trees ...  Just don't kill them with love :) .
I have several trees that didn't show brebas this year, and some others just showed them to smash them to the floor ... Just to hurt me in the heart ! :P
But I'm patient, so I'll wait for the main  crop to start popping .
I just cleaned the pruning shears and the shovel and put them near those droppers trees ... In case they decide to drop the main crop too... Tough Love !!!
Come on , patience, I'll wait one year more before going wild ...

Haha. I look constantly too. My neighbors must think I'm crazy. It's me poking my little head into all my plants and just staring. I bet if someone took a picture it would be really funny. However, I don't care, I'll still keep looking at them every day. Sometimes two or three times!! It makes me happy.

Most of my container trees that are in their 2nd year or longer are just starting to show the main crop figs - most around the size of a grain of rice.  My in-ground trees are putting out new shoots from the base and only one of these (Ronde de Bordeaux is showing any sign of main crop figs.  Some of the brebas from the container trees will probably be lost in our most recent heat wave unfortunately.
