I like cuttings with multiple branches they make a nicely shaped instant tree form.

I have a number of BM and Preto and hope to compare them. Only 2 Preto and one Black Madeira are older then new cuttings so it may take a few years, but hopefully Preto is a BM or close relative that needs less time and heat to produce ripe figs. That at least is the current thinking.

Michael, I also have several BM plants and rooted cuttings from two different sources in addition to the subject of this topic Preto "Francisco". All but
one of mine will probably be several years in the making also for comparison. If will definitely be interesting to watch them and compare.

Bill, mine would not root in sphagnum. They rooted in Root Riot in 14 days and then up-potted.

Mike, I just got mine about 2 weeks ago. They were very large, and I did not want to cut them to fit the root riot dome. They seem to be doing well so far in a a bag of sphagnum in a warm sunny window.
