Fig Cuttings for 2105

Due to work schedules it will not be possible to take all of our cuttings at once, as in previous years, which, logistically, means that we cannot put out an availability list as in previous years. At this point in time it appears that our only option will be to list them for sale on Ebay as there is time to take the cuttings over the next several weeks.

They will be under the Ebay seller ID of “pitangadiego” or http://www.ebay.com/sch/pitangadiego/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

That works.

It'll be interesting to see the bidding on the various varieties.

eBay...meh.

Well so much for getting E category figs this year. ...at a good price that is.

I was looking forward to the big sale to for forum members. :/

This is truly unfortunate for Forum members. I thought one of the benefits of being a member was NOT to have to bid on cuttings through eBay.

Hey things happen, it's a lot of work. Just remember and be appreciative of past good deals. There are only a few more to add to my list and I will just wait it out. Thanks Jon.

That will work and everyone will have an opportunity.

Uh oh and to think I just swore off ebay this week.  May have to rethink that resolution

Does anyone have the file from last years, I tried reading through the one thread from 2014 and didnt see it. Not sure if anyone saved it, but I think itll help people get an idea of what could be available. (And I want to see it too)

A link wouldve worked....

why so many posts?

In the past, when the list was released, members could make their selections at fixed rates from the whole lot and have their shipping amount calculated based on the amount of cuttings in the final order.
Now, if someone wins an auction for one variety, would you hold onto that one order until the end of the distribution season so the buyers would be able to save money on shipping if they wanted more varieties?

Also, will any varieties be available for the "buy it now" option?

LOL.. it could've been done just in ONE post

I think this link works: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/file?id=1793118
A few posts below is the original 2014 list in doc form.

edited after getting on a computer instead of my phone:
The list posted above by abcd in pieces is actually the second list with the leftovers, not the original list from February 2014.

Thanks Ed, you beat me to it.

I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't happen this year. Hopefully next year. :)

He said he was going to "list them for sale on ebay."  My guess is most or all will be a fixed price.

Edit - Oops, just checked his link.  So far all are auctions.

They are all auction

Jon
Best of luck with the auctions. I think it is a great way to help raise money for the foundation....But lots of work indeed
It will  definitely be interesting to watch

Good for you Jon.
Time to , finally, make some money:)

For those interested, here is last year's list in a document form.  I am doubtful Jon will be able to offer as many varieties by auction this year.

I will say that although I am a little disappointed that Jon has had to change how he is distributing his cuttings, I understand and accept that.  First, the fig plants are his, he has a right to do what he wants.  I do not think that we as forum members have any right or privilege, as someone stated above.  Second, which of us would do all of that work for so little in return?

Thanks Jon, for making them available in any form!  Is there going to be a way for requesting certain varieties be added to the auction list, say 'XYZ fig' if it does not show up for auction?  And I like the idea above of holding cuttings for shipping, if a member is interested in bidding on a number of varieites.  But that of course makes the work much more complicated.

Wish I lived in the SD area, I'd volunteer to go help with the work for a few days...would be like an internship in fig raising.  :)

Sorry to hear this. It appears that the Hobby has gone out of the Figs. Oh well.

Well, it looks like I am going to figure out Ebay auction strategy....... I hope to stay under $20.01 on my bidding, don't anyone go $20.02....LOL

Totally understandable as I can't even imagine the amount of work involved. It's a shame though that eBay will make so much off the fees. Would almost like a couple in person auctions. I would fly out west for that!
