Figs and ginger:)

Spring is here in Harpursville, NY . I have received my seed ginger from Hawaii . 40 pounds plus 10 pounds of tumeric "seed". I grew ginger in my hightunnel next to the figs last year and it was so successful I ordered this years ginger from East Branch Ginger. The growing season is short, so I am presprouting in my computer room next to the fig cuttings.  My original order was 20 pounds of Ruhi but there was a mixup and they doubled my order:) It smells like Spring in here I also have 200 tomato plants 300 pepper plants swiss chard collards kale and chinese cabbages popping in the Dining room. Gardening in Upstate New York, requires creativity, LOL

Linda

Sounds like you're gonna have your hands full Linda. But it also sounds like a lot of fun.

Do you sell your produce at local farmer's markets or some other methods?

Here's a link to an old thread where some of us were going on about some of our favorite tomatoes :) :   http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/In-NJNot-ripe-figs-nowbut-ripe-Tom.-3625452?highlight=tomatoes

Bill

I have a tomato for you guys to try. The seeds were plucked from a sandwich in Peru and smuggled home by "Uncle Bobby" 20 years ago. It is a very big, sweet, pink oxheart with few seeds, very productive and large plant. We have been selecting seeds from the largest fruits for many years and they do seen to be getting bigger. Some years we get a few 5+ pound fruits. It is a favorite around here.

Hoosier, are you up for some trading?  I sent you an e-mail.

I am going to have to see about getting some seeds from the farmer everyone. I just checked and could not find any old stock of my own. If you are interested let me know and I will send them when they are available August at the latest. Sorry for jumping the gun, I thought I had some extras of my own.

I'd be up for doing some trades for that one if you can get some this summer. Oxhearts are among my favorite tomatoes. Sounds like a winner.

Bill.
