figs and more fruits of the day

Main crop on my large tree is almost ready! I got a couple RdB and Wallingford Adriatic.
They were delicious.  White one has a honey taste to it.  Not sure what to think of RdB, except it is too small to judge it, I needed a few more!14- RdB.JPG  14- Adriattic Wallyn.JPG  14- RdB Adriatic Comparison (opened).JPG    14- RdB Adriatic Comparison.JPG

and here are some of my other fruits:

Grapes, pears and apples are in their first year, so mostly I just got a sample. They are all delicious.  Grapes were rooted from Cuttings from BunchGrapes.com 14- 4 in 1.JPG  14-aPhasylis Peruviana.JPG    14- 20th Century.JPG    14- Caroline.JPG  14- Interlaken.JPG    14- grafted Reisce.JPG       14- Venus.JPG  14-Anne.JpG  14- Red Bartlet.JPG 14- Venus Interlaken.JPG

very nice

Wow!
I only can imagine how your garden could look like if you had lived further south.

Beautiful, Grasa! I hope the good weather lasts for a good harvest. Interesting looking pear, what variety is it?

Gary, it is labeled Red Bartlet. I planted 7  pear trees  in a 30 degree slant, about 20 inches apart  in a row. I am training them to grow in the slant, however, I could not resist and allowed a few to fruit, so I would experiment them. Twentyth Century Asian Pear is a big winner here. We picked a couple and I am letting the last one to get super ripe on the tree. Next year they should be more productive.

Ah, Igor, I got another truck delivery of the laurel leaf chips, and I am mulching heavily- everything. I am observing how  the sun moves and what parts of my yard are the 'hotest'.  I have an idea and am going to 'experiment with a few fig trees by the hedge next door'.  I know the hedge will suck up any water or nutrients, but I have to try, until the day I can move out of here and bring my trees with me.

Very nice. You got grapes from a cutting the first year? Thats very good. I thought they took 2-3 years to produce. Nice job. That pear looks good too. I planted 27 fruit trees this year (No figs) Hoping to get a taste of some of them next year and then year 3-5 they should really start to produce.

Very nice!

It was just a few clusters, since the plants don't have any shape yet, no trellis, one is leaning on a bamboo, the other tied to my porch. I am learning what they do, and now I have a better idea.  I am trying to understand why low and high and head pruning and how to do.

nice
