Figs Are Breaking Dormancy Here In Arizona

All of my fig trees (except for LSU Purple) went dormant back in December.  LSU Purple lost most of its leaves but never went fully dormant.  Winter has been mild and now some of the trees are starting to swell green buds.  The 10 day forecast is very favorable and where I live that means that there probably will not be anymore frosts this spring.  I gave all the trees a good deep watering today and am excited that the growing season is slowly starting back up.

I am now up to about 10 plants that have broken and are leafing out.  Some only slept for ~4 weeks.  I'm bugging out about it a little bit because extended days of spring temps this early on in the year means lots of fig shuffling for me for the next 2-3 months :\

Jason,

That is impressive to have 10 plants out of dormancy in Atlanta this time of year.

4 of my 12 in ground trees are starting to break dormancy now.  I also have 2 pomegranate bushes, a peach tree, and a grape vine starting to break dormancy too.

Last year my plants started breaking dormancy at the end of February / beginning of March.  But this year's mild weather is starting things earlier.

Up here a little north of you in the high desert I have been shuffling my remaining potted fig in and out of the house all winter.  It's in a 15 gallon pot.  (Never again with the big pots). It didn't go dormant, as I bring it inside whenever it might freeze.  I am looking forward to planting this guy and putting an end to this...maybe in April.

Hey send that warm weather my way !

Ya...guess I shouldn't complain.   Mostly low to mid 30's at night....and into the 60's during the day.    Life is good.......

I have approx 30% of the figs which were in attached garage now waking up. Raspberry Latte and Strawberry Verte have been awakening for 3 weeks now.  My blueberries in containers are wide awake, wood now a solid green, no longer woody and they are growing.
