Figs fruits is not growing big and stay at about 1 inch in side for a months

Hi guys... Normally how long a figs takes from growing til ripe? My figs grow from cutting... About 3 ft in height... I water them everyday....(I'm from Malaysia... With constant 27-34 degree Celsius) I use chicken manure as fertilizer.... Fertilize once a week.... Any idea? Am I over fertilize the plant?

The species having this problem is...

-Celeste
-black bathelem
-black Salem
-Brooklyn white.

Are those varieties suitable for tropical climate?

I can't answer all of your questions but figs generally take 65 to 105 days to ripen once they appear.  You should be using composted chicken manure.  Whether you're over fertilizing depends on how much you use and how big the pot is or if they're in the ground.  If you have lots of leaf and stem growth but no figs that may be from too much nitrogen.  On the other hand, 3' isn't that big for a fig and it may just be too young.  When did the cutting have roots and leaves?  Do the leaves look healthy?  Photos will help.

Yup. i used composted chicken manure... the leaf and stems is growing fine..... and this picture was taken 1 month back the only diff is the fruit is 1 inch in diameter now... but it seems stop growing big.... ot super duper slow.

I use about 2-3 tea spoon on a 45cm pot... once a week...

I'm new to figs but I don't think they should be sitting in water. Just an observation from the last picture.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they like well drained soil?

cameldog,
It's normal. Figs usually take 90 - 120 days to ripen. The first stage is growth for about 30 - 45 days. They stop growing for about 60 - 75 days, which is sometimes called the "stagnant stage". They then swell change color and ripen at the end of that time within a 1-2 week period. from your picture the plant looks healthy and happy, Good Luck.

Hi Justpachy : yes, you are right. the water was there aft the rain, i pour them away right after that.

Ascpete : thanks for your input, you rest me assured. :) Phew~

Ahhh great! Just didn't want you to kill your plants due to over watering.

this place once almost dried up by the sun.... and the way i recovered it within the next 5 hours is put a water tray at the bottom and let it "drinks" as much as it can.. and phew.. it recovered in 5 hours and totally recover in 1 day....

Oh my goodness! You must really have the heat there! I don't envy you in the least! Poor fig babies! Poor humans! Thank the Gods for Air Conditioning!!!

Hi Michael : thanks for your help of digging that thread out. it's really useful :)

You're welcome cameldog.  I hope the fig growing is successful for you this year!  I got my first main crop fig for the year on 7/23, which is pretty good for this cold short growing season where I live.  So despite the cold and wet year, the rest of the trees here seem to be doing pretty well, and if we get a late enough fall there may be a very good crop.  (Here's hoping for a warm September).  Just been so busy I haven't done so much posting here lately.  But I hope you get some good ripe figs... post pics if you can!

Sure thing! Now i believe all fruits are under "stagnant stage" once they are wake up, definately i will share photo here :) they are only about 3/4 size of the cherry now :)
