Figs in Baltimore MD

Here are a few pictures of some figs that I have samples from my trees so far this year:
The first few photos are "Handy" followed by a photo of MSVS and one of negronne. The last photo is a netted cage I made this year to keep pests away from the figs. So far it has worked really well and I have not lost any figs to critters. The main downfall is that I can only fit a limited number of trees inside this space.

hey zach,

i left all my trees on the front of the house, no protection what so ever. i think birds got 50% of my figs. sad thing about the situation is, they don't finish the figs, they just poke at them, and rest is done in by the wasps. problem was as bad as couple of yrs back when i had to stay away from my trees due to number of wasps around it. i learned to clean them out as soon as i see the bird peck mark on the figs.

was nice meeting you past sat.

Great setup Zach.  Those figs look wonderful.

Sppsp- thank you, they are all very good, handy was the earliest and very productive- it has a very nice flavor that is very figgy, msvs had a strong berry flavor and negronne is unique, it has some hints of berry flavor but is more complex and hard for me to describe, negronne is probably the one I liked best of these three Pete- Last year I had the same problem and lost a lot of figs to birds and also squirrels. I was so frustrated that this year I decided to build this because I figured even if it limited the number of figs that would be better because I could harvest all of them rather than lose a bunch. It was great to meet you too Thanks Frank

Good job with those figs. I built a similar cage this summer, see pic.
