FIGS in Peru?

I'm taking a trip to Peru in a few weeks ,one location listed on my itinerary between the usual  Spanish Church's and Inca ruins is an orchard in the sacred valley between Cuzco and Macchu Pichu ...........and another is a collective  farm on the coast south of Lima ,i wonder if they grow FIGS ?

The Spanish  introduced figs to Peru in 1528 (Acosta 1590; Tamaro 1920).
I'll be in Lima so i hope to see this.
The oldest living fig tree in the New World, the Pizarro Tree, was planted around 1538 at the governor's palace in Lima, Peru.

Frankly I have no idea maybe someone from Peru could tell us.

The best way to find out is to go and look around...

good luck and enjoy your trip

well i´m in LIMA Peru ........beautiful city . leaving for the AMAZON rain forest At 4am . LATER FIG NUTS

Well, once you are there pl. do enjoy your stay!
In the meantime, it may be a good idea to just ask for (side-line) "them" figs.
You may have a surprise (or 2)...
Good luck.

Be Safe

Well i made it back from my 3 week trip in Peru  .

I did see a number of interesting fig trees, mostly in court yards of  museums or monastery's . A few peeking over the tops of the many walled gardens of private residences .
Only one had large purple and green striped fruit on it.
It was the winter or dry season . I was not able to see the 400+ year old fig Pizarro planted at the governors palace due to a  protest march the square was closed down.

Any forward twigs?

i was not able to collect any cuttings as virtually all of the fig trees i saw were in  gated court yards or behind walled gardens ..  bummer huh

Any pictures you can share.

l

Hmm fell asleep at the keyboard?

What say you?

I think that it was a recent picture-uploading-hikup on this F4F/FF,
recently mentioned/experienced by another fig poster...
