New to California and posting to ask if anyone on the forum grows figs in Sacramento?

I would like to plant a tree if the climate and growing season are conducive.

In the mean time, should anyone in my area have trees with more fruit than they will use, please consider allowing me to harvest what you will not use.

Sad to say, as I child I had access to several trees in my grandmother's yard with bountiful harvests every year but dared not consider eating a single one. Now,I regret never having done so every time I think about it.

Climate in Sacramento is optimal for growing figs.  
But you might want to actually eat a few before investing in this endeavor.

Umm, dude you are in fig heaven!  But seriously, welcome to the forum.  I'm sure you'll find some fig buddies in the Sacramento area.

Welcome to the forum.  As shocking as it is, I hear that some folks just don't like figs (shaking my head), so I would take Dave's suggestion.  Good luck, William, and I hope you LOVE figs!  =)

The USDA NCGR is having their annual free fig and gfape tasting in Winters (hour west of you) on Saturday. If you are available, I highly recommend it.

Sactown is optimal for figs. Saw figs growing everywhere! My wife and I even saw a fig tree growing in the sidewalk!

Welcome to the forum and figdom.  I moved to Sacto and didn't know what that big tree in my yard was.  It was a Black Mission and gave me my first taste of fresh figs and I've been hooked since.
