Anyone tried putting their potted cuttings under their house through the winter. All central H/A pipes have heat loss and it's kinda dark with all the vents closed and warm in winter under there. Just thinking of several things to try in order to grow some trees over the winter beside putting them in a shed or garage. My garage is has a lot of light coming in daytime and cold at night. Cats water freezes if get below 25 outside at night so I think my un- heated garage is not fig friendly . I cut some fig cuttings a couple weeks ago mostly the end of limbs growing trees in my area to take pictures of the leaf pattern. I did that then I stripped the leaves and stuck the green cuttings in jugs of lake water and potting soil under my oak tree in the back yard and Today they a growing roots just in water jugs, so I am going to try to save them through this winter once I pot them. I got my pots ready today to stick them in. Going to try under the house, In my storm cellar, and In my garage in my wife's broom closet in a corner of the garage with small supplement heater if need for frigid nights. Most all these cuttings are from local trees in the county , so if they croak I can get more. I am going to take some more cuttings from the same plants after they go into dormancy. I have the limbs marked on each tree with orange flagging tape. I'm going to try to root them as well this winter. Most are BT and celeste type varieties I believe, based on their leaf patterns nearly all have the same pattern of leaf except one , and I have narrowed that one down to a Brunswick variety I think. All have been around 20+ years dying back to roots each winter as nobody here winterizes those figs at all so they must be hardy as heck. Thanks to all the responses I have gotten since I joined the forum on my questions. I'm new but wanting to learn all I can. Thanks Dennis
