finally the pix.. Panache putting out roots.

it seems that one of the Panache cutting is putting out roots in the cup. the one that i put into 1 gal pot directly and left in the garage is also not drying out. will have to wait and see what happens.

the cuttings were nice 1/2" thick cuttings from jon. maybe next year, i'll taste some if i don't kill both of them.

Good luck Pete.  I'm sure they'll be inspired by the other fig trees surrounding it.  ;)

Watch out Pete, she really is vigorous and for me she has always tried to grow more vertical than horizontal.

Good luck and thanks for your spares!

i know pix is worth a 1,000 words.. but i'm too tired to take the pix and then edit it and post it. let see.. picture this in your mind.. on sat. no sign of root anywhere. on sun, saw a root sticking out of the soil. yesterday, there was root going around the peat pot inside of the clear cup. now that's fast.

i'll try to take a pix and post it.

believe it or not, i usually move them to 1 gal at this point if the weather outside is above 50 at night. but since it's not.. it will rot in my humidity bin for a duration :)

looks good!

I think one of my Panache died. :(  It had roots and leaves..  I took it out to harden it, but it started wilting, so i put it back in the bin, but never recovered.. started growing white fuzzy mold around the base of the wilted leaf.  :(

bullet08, I did the same with my panachee! Did you cover your garage cutting with anything? Like a cup or a bottle? It grows slower for me than the one in a higher humidity bin.
Also, how much sun did it have in your garage?

i didn't cover the cutting in garage with anything. i just left is stuck in soil. it's still not dead, and the bud is breaking, but doesn't look as good as the one that is in the cup in humidity bin. the other cuttings with much more root growth are doing very well in the same environment with good top growth, but they have been inside of the house in humidity bin since nov. of last year or so. i took them out when they were able to withstand half day outside of the humidity bin.

Ah, so I have the same with mine too :(  I hope it will pick up at some point. I had one more cutting that I just did stuck in the soil under a tree. It grows better than the garage one but not as well as in the bin.

the one in the picture might not make it. looking at the cutting, i noticed that the top of the cutting is drying out or was drying out before the bud put out a new leaf. meaning this will stay in the humidity bin for awhile until the roots are very well established, and even then, it might decide to cut everything off and die on me.
