First Air Layer

I have my first Golden Atreano air layer. Thanks to all members for posting on the subject, I think I read or watched everything. I used a two liter soda bottle, put rocks in the bottom, punched drainage holes, used MG rooting hormone and left the top open. In less than four weeks the entire bottle was roots. I cut it today and have it in a five gallon bucket. I now have a new six foot tree(which was a brand new shoot from spring). Great sense of accomplishment. I started a VDB at the same time and no roots yet.

Way to go, Steve.  =)  I'm trying my first one an LSU Tiger.  Wish me luck.

I have an HC that has a nice long limb that needs to come off the inground tree before it's wrapped for the winter.  I have about 5 weeks before normal frost date.  Is this enough time for air layer to root?  If I can get enough roots in five weeks, I can then move it into the greenhouse for additional growth.

Thanks
Wayne

I was wondering the same thing Wayne. I have one lonley fig tree with a couple of runners on it. I'm thinking if it doesnt have enough roots by the first frost date maybe I can wrap it when its expected to freeze?
