This is Kathleen's Black Breba really swelled the last two days.


This is Celeste which is the only in ground I have at the present time. It is over six feet tall and has what appears to be several hundred figs

My first ripe tomatoes and I will have my first tomato sandwich soon

Well Mike , I'm officially jealous !! Not only do you have a KB with a huge fig , a Celeste with several hundred figs , but you have ripe tomatoes !!! :)))

Mike I just ate my first breba they were from my in ground Celeste.  Ate 3 only one was completely ripe but I couldn't wait.  Pretty bland what with all the rain I suppose but still first fig of the year.  I can't wait for my tomatoes I planted late and am only now getting some green ones.  So i am really jealous those are beautiful.  Oh yeah the Kathleen Black is a beauty be sure to tell us how it tastes.

Charitup, my Celeste did not have any breba. Looks like it will make it up on the main crop.

You better post photos of the insides of those figs now that you've made us thoroughly jealous!   :)

Seven days later I finally got to eat this KB breba fig. It weighed in at 1.95 oz and as you can see bigger than the golf ball. It was very sweet, juicy, no crunchy seeds, reminded
my wife of a very sweet watermelon and it was not real figgy.

was that the first fig off your KB tree? i would like to hear more about the fig quality later on with main crop also. i had my KB tree giving me first fig last yr. i was very unimpressed. sweet, but there was nothing else. the texture was bit wrong. it felt like eating mushy pear. it did improve towards the end of the season. it got sweeter, but nothing much else. 

i'm hoping this yr, the KB will improve to give me "wow". i keep hearing how great this fig is. 

Pete, that was my first KB and since it was breba I don't what to expect from main crop. I was told by the provider that the breba probably would not be
very good. However, since it was my first fig this year, it was good but nothing to compare with yet.
