I got home from my California trip to find ripe figs about to drop off my Bisirri tree. I ate a couple last night in the dark and they were delicious: very jammy, like blackberry jam.
The Bisirri labeling gremlin strikes again. After discussing with Barry, apparently I have Bisirri Dark, not Bisirri Light (which is what I was supposedly buying). According to Barry, the Bisirri Light is another dark fig, but it is less dark, and, it is larger, with a lighter red interior. Apparently it is also more distinctive and flavorful than Bisirri Dark. In other words, Martin could close his eyes to the label and party hearty off a plate of Bisirri Lights.
Whatever. It is a very delicious fig (and after visiting HarveyC, I have some perspective :))
