First Frost

Well after a record-breaking 4.85" of rain these past 2 days we are expecting a hard frost tonight of 20-30 degrees. None of my figs have gone dormant. They are still producing leaves and fig buds. All are roughly 6 mos to just over 1 year old.

The figs potted in 1-gal or less-sized pots have been brought into my home for safety. I'm trying not to worry about the remaining 3-5 gal trees but can't help it. They are so young. Should I at least cover them or will this frost be good for them and force dormancy?

I would look at the weekly forcast to see if its going to get warmer colder etc etc before making up my mind this is what i do here as weather can change quickly.

If this cold snap lasts only a day or so, don't worry about it.  It will likely heat up quickly Yes?

All my little ones were in full leaf and actively growing when the first frost came. As long as it is only in the upper 20's or low 30's just overnight and warms up the next day, I wouldn't be too concerned. It's nice to put them next to a brick wall or something else that will hold the heat overnight. Mine are all still outside, but in sheltered locations. Of course, its 60 degrees here today, but has been in the 20's already.
