Hi Everyone!
It's been a long time since my last post but I only now have something to share....I have 2 figs trees.One I know is a Brown Turkey.The fruit is okay, small and sweet,when I pick them at the right time (still trying to figure it out lol ) I live in Trinidad and fig trees are not readily available, so I bought it as a shot in the dark.

But I really wanted to share the first few fruits from my second tree.This was also a blind purchase and I'm ecstatic that it paid off.This is its first crop.I have no idea what variety it is, so any help would be appreciated.It's bearing such large, pretty figs- yellow and ruby red ( or maybe brown?).The taste is really sweet, like honey.In my climate we only get a few figs at a time, so I've been cutting each fig and sharing it around, and everyone loves it!

I'm sure there are many fig varieties on your island did you buy your mystery plant locally?  

No, actually fig trees are not readily available at all.Most people have never heard of them or even tried them.

I did get it locally.The other varieties I have seen available here are black mission and brown turkey. But the sellers don't bother with identifying each variety  and it's super frustrating not knowing what mine is.But it is really fun telling people here about figs.They get so interested and really excited....so I have to start handing out cuttings pretty soon lol

I had a layover in Trinidad-Tobago once.  I'm not sure if being in the airport actually counts as being in the country!

Do they ever go dormant there?  It never gets cold, right?  Congrats on your figs, they look really nice.

Hi Charlie, No they never go dormant here...it's an all year growing season.The trees really seem to like this climate and thrive and grow rapidly here

Welcome to the forum! Great looking figs. I definitely second Aaron. Oh, and watch out, my dog pretty much entirely ate my Brown turkey I had. I had just bought and planted it and she chewed it to pieces!
